H.F.S Morgan
H.F.S Morgan was born in 1881 in Herefordshire and after
completing his education in engineering he worked as a draftsman
for seven years for Chief Engineer at GMR Railway Works in Swindon.
In 1906 HFS Morgan left GWR to open his own garage and motor
works in Malvern Link, Worcestershire. After extending the garage
he was able to start work on manufacture of motor-cars. The
Morgan first made its name at the Olympia Motor Show in 1910 which
became the fifty year history of HFS Morgan guiding car manufacture
in Malvern Link. Cars are still handcrafted in Malvern Link
today and tours are available around the Morgan Motor Factory.
The Morgan Car is commemorating its 100 years of production in
2009 with a yearlong anniversary celebration creating memories
that will last a lifetime! The celebration aims to
include the whole of the Morgan world from owners to employees,
suppliers to dealers and each event has been planned with specific
groups in mind. Events include the opening of the
Visitor Centre at the historic Malvern Link Factory based in
Worcestershire, a driving event held at Madresfield Court, near
Malvern, a golf event at the Worcestershire Golf Course set beneath
the splendid backdrop of the Malvern Hills and a boat cruise
from the riverside tow of Upton upon Severn through the glorious
Worcestershire countryside. There will also be a
Thanksgiving Service in Great Malvern Priory which was originally
part of a Benedictine Monastery now The Abbey Hotel where Welcome
to Malvern drinks will be held for the Festival on 24th July 09.
