King Charles II (1630-1685)

King Charles II was born in 1630 and was the eldest surviving son of King Charles I.  King charles I was executed in 1949 during the English Civil War and his son was not able to be crowned King of England although he was crowned King of Scotland.  In 1651 Charles II invaded England with a Scottish army but he was defeated at the Battle of Worcester and escaped into exile.  In 1660 he was invited back to England to reclaim his throne.

The Commandery now a Museum was King Charles II's headquarters during the Battle of Worcester.  Visitors are able to tour The Commandery with one of the many audio tours depicting life through the buildings history.  One of the audio tours is an exhilarating real life account of the Battle of Worcester.
