Ye Olde Black Cross
Ghost
Ye Olde Black Cross in Bromsgrove is haunted by a Royalist
soldier reputedly looking for Charles Stuart as it was at the forge
in this old pub that the King had had his horse reshod after
escaping from the Battle of Worcester.
The pub gets its name from the fact that it stood at a
crossroads where executed criminals were buried because it was
believed their ghosts would be too restless to lie in consecrated
ground.
