Evesham
Evesham is set on the banks of the River Avon. The busy
and ancient market town has a rich religious past and once had one
of the wealthiest monastery's in the land, nowadays only the
Almonry remains and houses the Tourist Information Centre. However,
the Abbots left a lasting mark by founding much of the fruit
growing and market gardening that continues in and around the town
today.
The Vale of Evesham is renowned for good quality fruit and
vegetables, particularly asparagus and plums. In the spring the
fruit trees in blossom are a beautiful sight, go on the 'Blossom
Trail' and you'll go through some of the prettiest spring
landscapes you'll see anywhere.
