Pershore
Pretty Pershore is on the banks of the River Avon and is one of
Worcestershire's famous market towns. The town grew up around its
7th century Abbey, which was heavily rebuilt in Norman times,
despite much demolition during Henry VIII's dissolution of the
monasteries a large part of it still survives today.
This mainly Georgian town with its wide main street, where many
of the houses have elaborate doorways and cast-iron balconies.
Pershore has regular markets where local produce is still bought
and sold. The town is famous as a centre for fresh produce
especially plums , the annual harvest is celebrated at the Plum
Festival held in August.
