Tenbury Mistletoe Festival

Tenbury Wells - England's Mistletoe Town - holds its annual Mistletoe Festival in late November and early December

Mistletoe Festival

Tenbury's Mistletoe Festival began in 2004, when the traditional Mistletoe Auctions, held in the town for over 100 years, seemed threatened with closure. Local people were determined Tenbury's Mistletoe legacy would continue, and so the Festival was born.

Tenbury Wells holds the title of Englands Mistletoe Town & to celebrate it will be holding its annual festival with Street entertainment, crafts and food. Events are centred around the auction season, from late November to early December.

They usually include the crowning of the Mistletoe Queen and a druidic celebration of mistletoe.

Mistletoe Auctions

The traditional mistletoe auctions will take place on Tuesday 29th November, Tuesday 6th December and Tuesday 13th December.

The auctions will take place at tenbury Business Park on Bromyard Road.

A key fixture of the festival is National Mistletoe Day, Saturday 3rd December. Tenbury Wells, the Worcestershire town at the heart of the UK mistletoe trade, aims to keep British mistletoe firmly on the map.

A host of events will take place during the day including the Mistletoe Foundation Procession through the town with "Bang On" Drummers (from the Rose & Crown, Birford to the Burgage at 2pm. There will also be a multi-faith ceremony on the Burgage including the crowning of the Mistletoe Queen and Holly Prince - roles traditionally given to the head girl and boy of the local high school.

The Pump Rooms will be open afterwards for refreshments, sales of mistletoe, stories and music.

At 7pm the Damh the Bard whi is a Pagan musician from the Druid tradition, poet and storyteller, who write songs about the myths and Spirits of the land, will be performing in the Royal Oak.
