Arbour House is a fine Grade II listed home, with flagstone floors and oak beams. It stands behind a small village green, in the riverside village of Wyre Piddle.

Originally built as a labourer’s cottage in the 1550’s it became the prosperous “George Inn” serving the boat hauliers on the banks of the River Avon. In 1651, it is said that Oliver Cromwell’s soldiers took ale here and afterwards slept in the fields around the village.

By 1890 the George Inn became a private residence known as Arbour House, a charming home which offers peaceful comfort to the traveller and holiday maker.

Arbour House overlooks open meadows, with fine views towards Bredon Hill, an outcrop of the Cotswolds. The Anchor Inn, a real old English pub, with gardens leading down to the River Avon is situated opposite.

Wyre Piddle is in the Vale of Evesham, famous for its blossom trail in Springtime and for the wealth of fresh fruit and vegetables, on sale at local markets and wayside stalls throughout the year. The Vale is well known for its delicious asparagus, which is abundant in May and served in the many excellent hostelries nearby.
