The Forge Mill Needle Museum tells the fascinating and sometimes gruesome story of needle making in Victorian times. The Mill is a listed building which houses original water powered machinery. Models and recreated scenes provide a vivid illustration of how needles were once made and how Redditch came to dominate the world needle trade. In 1983 the Museum was opened by Queen Elizabeth II. Take a step back in time and experience the atmosphere of a Victorian needle-polishing mill. The scouring mill is the only one of its kind remaining in the world!

Contemporary textiles
The museum has become a regional centre for textile lovers. We have a varied and lively programme of temporary exhibitions, housed in the Mill, which include displays of textiles and various subjects including local history, art and crafts.

Gift Shop
The shop stocks souvenirs associated with the mill and the abbey site. It also has a comprehensive selection of needles, including specialist curved needles. There is a mail order service available for needle purchases and the shop can sometimes help with unusual needle requests.

Abbey Meadows Coffee Bar
The Abbey Meadows Coffee Bar outlet provides light refreshments for visitors to the Museum and also offers catering services for museum events, group visits or special functions.

From April – September the café-bar is open Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11am – 4pm.
