Located in the quiet hamlet of Clevelode, on the outskirts of Malvern, nestling on the banks of the River Severn you will find ‘Severnside’ with its magnificent views overlooking the River Severn and further across the Severn Valley towards Bredon Hill.
We are ideally situated for the Three Counties Showground (3 miles), Great Malvern (4 miles), Upton-upon-Severn (4 miles), Worcester (6 miles) and further afield is the Shakespearean town of Stratford (Shakespeare country), Warwick, with its historic Castle, and of course the Cotswolds.
The location is well placed for the discerning business person who wants to escape the rigour of business life, or for those looking for a more tranquil haven that is near to Malvern and its facilities, yet fells as though you are miles from anywhere!
‘Severnside’ has been in the same family for at least the last 150 years, though a new house replaced the original cottage in 2000. In the early part of the last century ‘Severnside’ was a popular location for many families from around the area, as it was here that for the price of an old penny they could swim and enjoy the sandy banks just under the red bluff on the Severn.
Four acres of orchard run the length of the riverbank and contains fruit trees that are nearly 100 years old, yet still produce excellent fruit which is used to produce the jam which you can enjoy at breakfast. You can sit by the riverside and watch the boats leisurely wending their way between Upton-upon-Severn and Worcester and enjoy the sunshine. We are an ideal location for ‘twitchers’ as there is plenty of birdlife to see along the banks of the river with herons, swans, kingfishers and woodpeckers to name but a few, as well as other types of wildlife. Perhaps you would prefer to fish (season permitting), there are barble, bream, chub and pike a plenty, or will you be lucky and catch a salmon – this was how the family used to earn its living at the turn of the century!
There are 3 bedrooms, all tastefully furnished in a luxurious country manner, with their own en-suite and magnificent view either overlooking the banks of the Severn and beyond or towards open countryside.
All rooms have hospitality tray, Malvern water, digital television, radio/alarm clock and hairdryer. There is a separate lounge with woodburner for those cold winter nights where one can relax and enjoy the views over the Severn, read a book or enjoy a board game.
After a good night’s sleep breakfast is served in the dining room, where you can enjoy a hearty full English breakfast made with fresh local produce where possible. If you prefer, you can have a light/continental breakfast, maybe poached eggs or croissants.
If you are a keen fisherman why not try a weekend break and fish from our private River frontage, contact us to enquire about our fishing breaks and enjoy one of the best stretches on the River Severn.
