There's something for everyone at Hartlebury this Heritage Open Days. From Friday 9th September to Sunday 11th September there's a host of free activities, from stores tours to a sneak peek around the castle to family activities.

Heritage Open Days is the perfect opportunity for the public to get up close and personal with a thousand years of history. On Friday 9th September visitors will be able to join a free tour of the Museum stores. Lead by expert curators these tours are a fascinating opportunity to find out about Museum Worcestershire's amazing collections and the work that goes into caring for them. Then on Saturday 10th September the Museum and Castle will not only be open for free, but visitors will also be able to have an exclusive look around the bishop's rooms and can find out about the project currently underway to transform the site into a unique visitor attraction. Finally on Sunday 11th September, alongside free entry to the museum, there'll be a chance to meet the Castle's scullery maid, get hands-on with the collections and learn about how the museum cares for their objects.

Lloyd Grossman, Patron of Heritage Open Days, said: “At a time when many of our heritage sites, museums and buildings of cultural interest are under increasing economic pressure it’s heart-warming to see the number of Heritage Open Days events continue to grow. Our army of volunteers play an important role in championing our wonderfully diverse local heritage, opening up doors and keeping access free for these very special four days every year. We are keen to encourage people to stand up for the places that are important to them by bringing to life their stories for everyone to enjoy.”

Rachel Robinson, Museum Manager, added: "Heritage Open Days is always a fantastic event at Hartlebury. It's not only great fun but a brilliant opportunity to get to know more about what goes on behind the scenes here, and of course all for free! This year it'll also be one of the last chances to visit the Bishops' rooms in the Castle before they're restored as part of Hartlebury Castle Preservation Trust's project."
