CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN SENDS LEMURS LEAPING…

Lemurs at West Midland Safari Park have been treated to their very own advent calendar, courtesy of some very special visitors!
As part of the Park’s annual Santa Safari event, Santa, Mrs Claus and their elf helpers have taken up residency in the Discovery Trail until Christmas Eve. Whilst Santa is occupied meeting all the boys and girls, Mrs Claus and the head elf have been busy making gifts for the animals and first on the ‘nice list’ were the Park’s troop of ring-tailed, red bellied and white-fronted brown lemurs.

A SIGN-IFICANT FIRST FOR THE SWAN THEATRE PANTOMIME!

This year will mark a first for the Swan Theatre’s annual professional pantomime, as the Worcester Repertory Company will be staging their first ever signed performance.
The Worcester Repertory Company will be delighting audiences with a sparkling re-telling of one of the most magical of fairy-tales Cinderella this December, and this year they want to make sure that everyone can enjoy the magic of pantomime… cue the first BSL Interpreted pantomime performance in The Swan Theatre’s history.

Yet that’s a very interesting question, for what do we consider Christmas these days? The Nativity Story? Santa Claus? Carol singing? Mince pies? Well, as a new comedy at the Swan Theatre explores, our modern Christmas started in some pretty diverse and peculiar places!

THE SNOW MUST GO ON FOR THE ELVES AT SAFARI PARK…

West Midland Safari Park has enlisted some extra help this year for the festive season in the form of 60 elves, who have been very busy indeed! Lead by a completely new role — head elf — the team of Santa’s little helpers have been working extremely hard transforming the Park’s Discovery Trail into a winter wonderland, ready for Santa’s arrival. The big man himself is due to arrive on 12 November for the Park’s annual Santa Safari event.

As thoughts turn towards the festive season the annual Crafted for You exhibition opens this Saturday at Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum and is on show until 7 January.
Crafted for You showcases some of the best craft makers in the Midlands. A sumptuous and colourful range of jewellery, ceramics, glassware, wood, textiles and prints are on show and all available to purchase. There are a record seventeen makers in this year's show.

This year’s Christmas concert at Worcester Cathedral, ‘Love is Born’ is a musical celebration of Christmas, centred on the compositions and arrangements of Sir David Willcocks, who was organist of Worcester Cathedral from 1950-1957 and was principle conductor of the Three Choirs festival.
