A bit of a special this year – the launch of this year’s professional Swan Theatre Pantomime, Cinderella, has been incorporated as part of this year’s Worcester Festival, and will take place on the High Street this Saturday, 27th August, right in the middle of the Bank Holiday Weekend – the big finale to the Festival.

On Bank Holiday Monday (29 August) from 11am-4pm visitors can meet gallant Sir John, the Dark Knight Sir Christopher and the beautiful Princess Poppy in the glorious surroundings of Hartlebury Castle. Families can learn how to duel and practice for a joust just like a Knight, and learn how to curtsy and dance like a proper Princess.

This summer holiday, children and young people have the opportunity for their photograph to be taken as a famous person in history at Wonder Wardrobe, an event inspired by the ‘Dressed for Drama’ costume exhibition at Worcester Cathedral.
To compliment the costume exhibition, there are a number of costume-inspired fun, creative and mad activities for families over 6 days.

The Worcester Festival team is geared up and ready ahead of the launch of this year’s Worcester Festival on Saturday.

The Mayor of Worcester, Councillor Paul Denham, will officially open this year’s Worcester Festival outside the Guidhall at 11am this Saturday, just before the Gugge 2000 band get proceedings underway in their own inimitable way – for those who haven’t encountered them before, you’re in for a treat! – kicking off a total of 17 days of events and activities across the city of Worcester.

FINALISTS ANNOUNCED FOR THE VISIT WORCESTERSHIRE AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE

31 finalists have been announced for the Visit Worcestershire Awards for Excellence, Worcestershire’s leading Awards for tourism businesses. This year, the Awards are being held in partnership with Visit Herefordshire for the first time, and 108 entries were received overall. 53 entries were received for Worcestershire in ten categories, which ranged from Best Visitor Attraction to Best Hotel.
