A SIGN-IFICANT FIRST FOR THE SWAN THEATRE PANTOMIME!

This year will mark a first for the Swan Theatre’s annual professional pantomime, as the Worcester Repertory Company will be staging their first ever signed performance.
The Worcester Repertory Company will be delighting audiences with a sparkling re-telling of one of the most magical of fairy-tales Cinderella this December, and this year they want to make sure that everyone can enjoy the magic of pantomime… cue the first BSL Interpreted pantomime performance in The Swan Theatre’s history.

WORCESTER CATHEDRAL NAMED IN FINAL PHASE OF GRANTS TO CATHEDRALS

The final phase of a two year grants programme to English cathedrals, from First World War Centenary Cathedral Repairs Fund, for urgent repairs was announced yesterday.
Grants totalling £5,423,000 have been awarded to 24 Church of England and Catholic cathedrals for repairs including stained glass windows, stone pinnacles, and roofs as well as drainage and lighting.
As part of this latest grant which shows the governments support for Cathedrals and recognises the importance of these historic buildings as community hubs, Worcester Cathedral will receive £40,000 for damp investigation and remediation to the St George’s Chapel. The Chapel is where Worcester remembers local people who died in war. A memorial to local WWI hero Revd Geoffrey Studdert Kennedy (Woodbine Willie) is also in the St George Chapel.

There are mummers, disasters, ghosts and curious musical instruments, all depicted in the wonderful words of Thomas Hardy and William Barnes.

There will be plenty of festive cheer when Vicki Swan and Jonny Dyer perform their Winter Warmer concert in Worcester this December. Billed as A Victorian Music Hall Christmas Celebration, this concert will appeal to those who associate Christmas with carols, singing, dancing and the joy of being together as a family and a community. Like a good cup of mulled wine, this evening is full of warm cosy moments.

When Sara Danius, secretary of the Swedish Academy, announced Bob Dylan as the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature last month, she singled out for special mention his legendary double LP Blonde on Blonde, which was released exactly fifty years ago. This year's Dylan Project show will feature their version of this seminal album, in its entirety and played in album order, and also marks the release of their own double album, the live Caught in the Convent CD, recorded last year.

West Midland Safari Park has enlisted some extra help this year for the festive season in the form of 60 elves, who have been very busy indeed! Lead by a completely new role — head elf — the team of Santa’s little helpers have been working extremely hard transforming the Park’s Discovery Trail into a winter wonderland, ready for Santa’s arrival. The big man himself is due to arrive on 12 November for the Park’s annual Santa Safari event.

A new exhibition, ‘Plumlines’ which includes over a 188 poems launches at Croome, near Worcester, on 19 November. ‘Plumlines’ at the National Trust is a collection of real life stories expressed through one-hundred word poems, written by people from across Worcestershire about a female relatives life during the First World War.

The inaugural Midland Asian Wedding Awards 2016 was held on 28th October at the Vox Conference Centre at the NEC Birmingham and saw all the prominent and leading figures in the Asian wedding industry in attendance.
