ORCHESTRA OF THE SWAN BRINGS A TOUCH OF VIKING FLAVOUR TO RAISE MONEY FOR WORCESTER’S RORY THE ROBOT

After an extremely successful concert on 21st September, Orchestra of the Swan (OOTS) will perform again at Huntingdon Hall, Worcester, on 2nd November to help raise money for Worcestershire’s Rory the Robot Appeal.

The judges of Worcester Cathedral’s King John Portrait Competition –Sara Hayward RCA, Francesca Currie (portrait artist) and Philip Leach (Actor, playing King John in Shakespeare’ s King John) – found it difficult to choose between the 60 excellent new portraits forming an exciting new King John portrait exhibition the cathedral.

SERVICE TO COMMEMORATE 800TH ANNIVERSARY OF KING JOHN'S DEATH

Worcester Cathedral is one of very few places outside Westminster Abbey and Windsor, to house the tomb of an English monarch since the Norman Conquest. It was the specific request of King John to be buried at Worcester, a place for which he had great affection, as stipulated in his will written shortly before his death in October 1216. The cathedral still holds the original copy of his will.
