Stour Vale Mill,
We are always delighted to welcome groups who wish to the Museum of Carpet together.
Bringing Kidderminster’s history and heritage as the Woven Carpet Capital of the World to life, the Museum of Carpet is a hidden gem, loved by all those who visit.
From the moment a visitor enters, the Museum of Carpet gives a real feel for what it was like to work in the industry; a carpet timeline charts the industry’s development from its roots in the 18th century to modern times. Throughout the galleries, display boards, graphics and interactive exhibits tell the story of the town’s carpet companies with life-sized figures share the dyer and bobbin winder’s tales helping reveal what life was really like.
There’s even the chance to have-a-go at designing your own carpet! And no visit is complete without the chance to marvel when our huge Jacquard Wilton and the Spool Axminster looms weave carpet before your eyes!
At the Museum, we like to extend a warm welcome to groups and offer:
• Introductory talk about how the town’s carpet weaving history with a complimentary cuppa!
• Your own Tour Guide to help you navigate the Museum
• Demonstrations by our hand loom weavers and power loom weavers to see carpet woven before your eyes
