Handling objects at an open event.

Handling objects at an open event.

All of our events are supported with the use of our wonderful handling collection, including this fabulous 1940s nursing cape.

Charles Hastings Education Centre,
Charles Hastings Way,

If you are a tutor or delegate coming to the Charles Hastings Education Centre, don't forget to tell everybody to spend a few minutes in the museum. We provide a great opportunity for all to understand how their respective fields of medicine and health care have developed over the past few centuries. You might be surprised by what's on display!

Organised groups and tours

If you are an organised group with an interest in the history of medicine then there are plenty of ways in which we can help you get the most out of your visit. We can arrange a guided tour, a handling session with objects from our designated Education Collection, or even a workshop or talk based upon your group's interests. In the past, we have spoken to groups about subjects such as the 'science' of phrenology & physiognomy, Powick Lunatic Asylum, and the history of women in the development of medicine.

As well as other activities, any groups visiting the Centre can watch our short film (about 25 minutes) called Heroes of Medicine which provides a good introduction to key events in medical history. If you would like to view the film you will need to pre-book with us. Charges apply in order to book the lecture theatre,
