Details

A glorious Grade I listed building dating back to the 12th century. The Commandery has a long and varied history that reflects its range of architectural styles from mediaeval to Victorian. The Commandery has exciting stories to tell you about, power, greed, war, wealth, romance, death, society and industry. Step back in time to catch a glimpse of the lively characters that have inhabited this ancient building during the past seven centuries.

Using state of the art audio interpretation, The Commandery's long hidden history comes vividly to life, allowing you to explore 6 chosen periods, enjoying the characters and the atmosphere of the buildings colourful past.

The Commandery has reopened after a major refurbishment with financial assistance from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The Commandery is located in the heart of Worcester City centre on the main A44 just 3 minutes walk from the Cathedral and Elgar statue on the High Street. There are two pay and display car parks opposite the building on King Street and Commandery Road.

The Commandery is a wonderful venue for groups wishing to enjoy a day out in historic surroundings or school groups to investigate a treasure trove of history! It is also possible to hire the venue to add incredible atmosphere to functions and events.
