Steam trains operate along this superbly restored branch line most weekends of the year in 2016, daily from May 3rd to October 1st. In addition the railway operates throughout all local school holidays.

The Railway boasts one of the largest collections of working steam locomotives and coaches, including some rolling stock, which is over 80 years old.

Freedom of the Line' train tickets offer the best value fare. They permit unlimited travel on the day of your visit and include FREE admission to The Engine House Visitor Centre.

No visit to the SVR is complete without going to the Visitor Centre at Highley.

At the Visitor Centre there are eight full size steam locomotives plus other exhibits including a King George VI Royal Saloon.

Special events have always played an important role in Severn Valley Railway calendar and 2016 is no exception.

Firm favourites such as the 'Step back to the 1940s' is back and ' a family fun weekend with Peppa Pig will also be around.

The Railway only has three special weekend events aimed mainly at the enthusiast, The ' Spring Steam Gala' in March, the 'Autumn Steam Gala' in September and the 'Diesel Enthusiasts Gala' in October.

Restaurant and buffet facilities are available at the main stations and a trolley service is available on most trains. The restaurant at the Visitor Centre is well worth a visit with its stunning balcony views across the Severn Valley.

Restaurant Car trains operate on most Sundays. Advance booking is essential. For something a little bit different why not try one of our 'whodunnit' Murder Mystery experiences?

You may find that one visit to the Severn Valley Railway is not enough so you really will have to come back.

The Severn Valley Railway strives very hard to provide access for people of all ages who have a variety of mobility or other special needs. For the physically less able specially adapted vehicles, which allow wheelchair access, are available on certain trains. Disability friendly toilets are also fitted in these vehicles. At all stations, but excluding Northwood and Country Park Halts, ramps are available which connect between the train and the platform. The train crew and station staff will assist passengers in wheelchairs if required, they are used to doing this. If your group is likely to contain a large number of physically less able people, our staff at Bewdley will provide advice regarding the best trains to travel on and the most appropriate stations to embark and disembark. Please call. Please remember that our stations were built in the 1860s and, as such, pose some operational difficulties.
