Details

There is a wealth of opportunities for groups at the Severn Valley Railway. Take an exciting steam train ride through the picturesque Severn Valley from Kidderminster in Worcestershire to Bridgnorth in Shropshire on one of the SVR's heritage steam locomotives. Trains operate every weekend from February to November and Daily from May to October as well as during school holidays.

An ideal place to break your journey is The Engine House Visitor Centre at Highley, packed with interactive and informative exhibits, including the SVR's reserve collection of steam engines, King George VI Royal Carriage and host of railway memorabilia and artefacts. While there, stop off for a bite to eat at the Flag & Whistle Food Stop, and admire the panoramic views across the Severn Valley.

'Freedom of the Line' train tickets permit unlimited travel on the day of your visit and include FREE admission to The Engine House Visitor Centre.

If you fancy a day out with a difference, the SVR holds a number of events throughout the year including Spring and Autumn Steam Galas, Step Back to the 1940s Weekends and is this year hosting a brand new Home and Garden Fayre and a Christmas Gift Fayre.

Dining train packages are also available, enabling visitors to enjoy delicious food in the SVR's beautifully-renovated heritage catering carriages whilst travelling through the stunning Severn Valley countryside. Restaurant and buffet facilities are available at the main stations and a trolley service is available on most trains.

Group booking discounts - for groups of 15 or more - including reserved seats packages are available on normal operating days, and the Railway's Group Travel co-ordinator will be able to ensure your visit is a memorable one.

The Severn Valley Railway strives very hard to provide access for people of all ages who have a variety of mobility or other special needs. For the physically less able specially adapted vehicles, which allow wheelchair access, are available on certain trains. Disability friendly toilets are also fitted in these vehicles. At all stations, but excluding Northwood and Country Park Halts, ramps are available which connect between the train and the platform. The train crew and station staff will assist passengers in wheelchairs if required, they are used to doing this. If your group is likely to contain a large number of physically less able people, our staff at Bewdley will provide advice regarding the best trains to travel on and the most appropriate stations to embark and disembark. Please call. Please remember that our stations were built in the 1860s and, as such, pose some operational difficulties.

Prices

Group prices are only available for pre-booked groups of 15 or more adults/seniors who pre-booked in advance of the visit.
