The Railway Station,
Events at this Venue
With so many attractions offering you many good reasons for visiting them, why should you choose a heritage railway? A day on the railway such as the GWR offers value for money and an insight into a gentler age of train travel. This re-creation of a bygone era is dynamic, active and exciting.
The GWR offers some of the finest views that it is possible to see through a carriage window. Running for ten miles through beautiful Cotswold countryside there are views across the Avon and Severn valleys as far as the Malvern Hills and the Black Mountains in Wales. You have the option of combining a train ride with a visit to one or more of the many other nearby attractions. But there is plenty to keep you happy n our railway for the full day. Indeed, the purchase of a full line return ticket for one of our normal scheduled services allows you to travel as often as you want throughout the day.
For anyone over 50, the sight, sound and smell of a steam train stirs powerful emotions. Remarkably steam also excites youngsters who come to the railway in increasing numbers each year. There is something captivating about a large living locomotive at the front of a train. It's hot and it's fun.
Our railway was once an important main line route that was all but destroyed nearly 30 years ago. Since then volunteers have rebuilt ten miles and our next challenge is to increase this to fifteen by extending to one of the most beautiful villages in the Worcestershire Cotswolds, Broadway. Taking a ride on one of our trains will help generate the funds we need to achieve this objective.
For Ticket Only events then tickets can be purchased beforehand but must be done at Least 10 days before the event.
Our Santa Specials need to be booked in advance and we take bookings from August onwards and Steam trains are usually fully booked by end of September if not before).
Also smoking is allowed in the open air but NOT within the Station Building or platforms.
Wheelchair visitors need to check in advance if we have capacity on that day because have a limited number of spaces on each on each train.
All visitors with disabilities are strongly recommended to have a helper with them (who travels free) because railways are a dangerous environment.
