Stourport-on-Severn
As a canal town Stourport-on-Severn owes its existence to the construction of the
Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal in the 1760’s. The town, with its lovely Georgian buildings
was once one of the busiest inland ports in the Midlands. It is now an inland resort with pleasure
boats cruising on both the canal and the River Severn and the riverside meadows providing a range of
family entertainment.
