An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a new team to support the implementation of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, working with colleagues across health and social care. Principally, this important role is all about coordinating and undertaking Best Interest assessments of vulnerable people in care homes and hospitals in a timely manner and allocating assessments to/supervising a proportion of staff from a pool of 'on-call' BIAs. To be considered for any of the above posts you will need to be a qualified and registered social worker, psychologist, occupational therapist or nurse, have at considerable experience in work with people, either with dementia and/or a learning disability (subject to whichever post is being applied for). You will need also need to have undertaken the mandatory Best Interest Assessor training by 1st April 2009 or demonstrate that you have secured a place at an approved university authorised to provide BIA training before April 2009. You will also have experience in coordinating complex assessment work and have skills in practice development. The scope of this work is county wide. You will be comfortable in challenging others' assumptions and attitudes towards safe care plans and use your expertise and experience to recommend an appropriate and realistic evidence based care plan. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Level 2/3 Social Worker to work as a Specialist HIV Social Worker based within the Physical Disability Team South.
The Social Worker will cover both north and South of the County having an opportunity to work in both rural and urban areas.

You will be well motivated and enthusiastic having both a Care Management role and development responsibility. You will be based part of the week at The Worcester AIDS Foundation; a small Voluntary Organisation located in Worcester City Centre. The Organisation provides both practical and emotional support to those affected and infected by HIV living in Worcestershire. You will spend the remaining part of the week based at Bridgewater House with the Physical Disability Team.

The Social Worker will also be a member of the HIV Team working with Health Colleagues at the Hospital, the County GU Clinics and the Local Authority Specialist Support Worker/s. As such you will support individuals who have been newly diagnosed, those whose condition has deteriorated or are experiencing challenges within the community.

In partnership with The Worcester AIDS Foundation 2009 brings an exciting chance to work on a new and exciting project 'The Solid Foundation. The project is a Refuge/Respite Housing Scheme and has attracted Government funding from the (LAC) HIV Capital Grant. This work will bring new challenges to both the Social Worker and The Worcester AIDS Foundation.

As the Social Worker becomes familiar and confident with information regarding the Virus and the way in which it can be contracted there will be the opportunity to develop presentation and teaching skills in order to challenge stigma and prejudice.

The Social Care Access Centre provides a frontline service to people wishing to access a range of Adult's and Children's Services. We need somebody with excellent customer services skills to join the Customer Advisor team supporting Adult & Older People's Services. This team are the initial point for responding to requests for information and assistance and plays an important role helping people access suitable support. If you have customer service experience, a good standard of general education, familiarity with IT systems and the drive to help deliver and improve important public services then we want to hear from you.

Telecare Development Officer

Telecare is now rolling out as a fully commissioned service for older people and people with disabilities within Worcestershire. Central to the success of Telecare is this post as we develop a Telecare Team - we need someone who has the ability to identify and implement telecare solutions. It is essential that you have an HND in an electronics or an engineering-related subject or you have equivalent experience. A working knowledge of computer systems and experience of working with and using both telecomms equipment and computer controlled equipment is needed also. You must have good problem solving skills and the ability to diagnose faults and repair electronic, mechanical and telecommunications equipment. As part of the job you will visit service users in their own homes to identify areas where telecare equipment may assist in improving their quality of life and then identifying the appropriate equipment to meet these needs so it is important that you have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to use tact and sensitivity. This is an exciting opportunity as we develop new solutions within a new Team that can achieve really good outcomes for our service users.
