10 Things to Get You in the Christmas Spirit
There are lots of festive things happening in Worcestershire over the next few weeks, and we’ve put together a guide to help you get in the mood for Christmas!
Christmas Light Switch On
Soon the whole county will be twinkling with festive lights, with many of Worcestershire’s towns hosting special switch on events. It’s the perfect way to kick off Christmas as a family. We’ve rounded up the main events over on our blog, and you should also check out Enchanted Witley Court and Sudeley Castle Spectacle of Light
Christmas is all about tradition, and the annual Tenbury Mistletoe Festival is a celebration of the plant we all associate with the festive season. Taking place on Saturday 7 December, the festival is filled with fun for all ages, including a mistletoe hunt and the crowning of the Mistletoe Queen.
Visit Father Christmas
Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a trip to see the man in the red suit. We’ve heard he will be making special appearances at lots of different venues across Worcestershire throughout December before rushing back for Christmas Eve. Discover a Santa Sighting near you on this list.
Wrap up warm, lace up your skates and go for a twirl around the Webbs Christmas Ice Rink. Open until early January, the whole family will enjoy whizzing round a few laps of the rink before warming up with a hot chocolate at the rink side Christmas Café.
Christmas Markets & Fayres
Show your support to local trade by visiting one of the many Christmas Fayres and Markets taking place throughout Worcestershire. The Worcester Victorian Christmas Fayre is taking place from 28 November – 1 December. It’s a highlight in the calendar and sees the city streets taken over by stalls and tradespeople in traditional dress.
Pick Out Your Christmas Tree
We don’t think you can beat a real Christmas tree to bring some magic into your home. There are plenty of farms and garden centres in Worcestershire where you can pick your own, including St Peters Garden Centre, Leigh Sinton Christmas Trees and Pinewood Christmas Tree Plantation
Source Your Christmas Dinner
Worcestershire has an abundance of great farm shops and garden centres where you can pick up great quality, local produce for your Christmas table. Why not give the supermarkets a miss this year and head along to Becketts Farm Shop, Wayside Farm Shop or take a tour of Astley Vineyard?
Christmas Carol Concert
Reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and take part in a carol concert at your local church. If you want a grander setting, Worcester Cathedral is hosting a series of concerts throughout December including an Advent Procession on 1 December, and the traditional Christmas Eve Crib Service.
