Brockencote Hall Hotel

Dec 7 2021 Business Insights

We asked Craig, the General Manager of Brockencote Hall, to tell us about his average day.

Hi there! How early is your first cuppa?

I have a 3 year old daughter so my day always starts early, around 6.30ish and I drink coffee – all day, every day.

Tell us a bit about the hotel.

Brockencote is a gorgeous, 21 bedroom luxury country house with award-winning fine dining. We have fantastic conferencing and event facilities and since opening up have been extremely busy with weddings. But we are also open for the local community, anyone can pop in and have a coffee or lunch, relax and just chillout in our beautiful surroundings.

How do you recharge during the morning?

I normally go for a walk – we are situated in a 72 acre estates so being able to walk in our gorgeous grounds is a real privilege.

What’s your favourite lunch-time snack?

I like to spend a lot of time being with guests or with the team so I tend to grab lunch on the go. Our chefs are always trying out new, delicious recipes so we get to test and nibble on a whole range of delicious treats, depending on what they are planning that week.

What’s your average afternoon routine?

I am a people person so in the afternoons, once all the admin is done, I go back to meeting our guests and walking the floor with the team. It’s a real pleasure chatting to our visitors, hearing their stories and plans. One of the hardest parts of the pandemic was not being able to do this, so I try to do this as much as I can.

How do you chillax at the end of the day?

A nice bottle of red wine – catching up with my wife and daughter and learning about their day.

What’s your favourite part of what you do?

We are really lucky as we are very well connected – just 10 minutes from the M5. But once you are here, coming up the driveway, you are surrounded by peace and tranquillity. I think my favourite thing is seeing our guests be transported away, escaping the every day in our beautiful grounds. For me that is what a hotel should do and I love that we can help our visitors experience this.
