The Evesham Hotel

The Evesham Hotel is a Tudor/Georgian building nestling in mature 2 acre gardens with a 200 year old Cedar of Lebanon and 6 x 300 year old mulberries - all very peaceful. The consistently warm welcome inside is unique, because the reception/management staff average 25 years service and all the staff are local. The welcoming Teddy Bear key fobs immediately suggest that this is not a run of the mill hotel, the rooms are very homely (all the doubles have a silent fridge with free welcoming wine and fresh milk) and include some unusual and popular themes rooms (Alice in Wonderland Family Suite, Ancient Egyptian room, Safari room, 'Horse Racing' room etc.). And, yes, we were the first hotel to introduce rubber ducks in the bath!We are again unusual insofar as we cater for the whole family - granny should feel as relaxed as 'little Freddie' and romantic couples as at home as a roving businessman. As we do not cater for large parties (10/12 maximum), individuals will never feel frozen out by a function as we do not cater for them. Well behaved children are as welcome as well behaved adults and fully catered for - no wonder the Independent newspaper listed us as one of the 'Top 50 family friendly hotels in the world'! We also have ground floor rooms and rooms suitable for disabled guests. And all relaxed, of course.While the breakfast menus include more different cereals than you have ever seen, it is the lunch/dinner menus that attracts - not just the menus but the food itself. These days it has become unusual to be offered such a wide range of dishes (6 main course vegetarian dishes alone) but all is home-made, freshly cooked and the reason we can do it is that the kitchen staff have all worked here for years so know the system backwards! The a la carte menu changes weekly and there is also a good range of plain (e.g. steak, fish etc.) dishes as well. Ten puddings plus ice cream and cheese then coffee or a choice of 35 teas (leaf not teabag dust!).Wine-wise the Evesham Hotel is again unique because it hasn't sold French or German wine since 1977, specialising in all other countries (not only Italy, Argentina, South African etc. but also really unusual ones e.g. Ireland, Holland, Peru, Thailand, Japan!) and we were the first customer of Chilean wine back in 1976!And then there's the drinks list - indisputably the widest range of drinks (aperitifs, whiskies, brandies, liqueurs etc. etc.) available anywhere in this country or probably anywhere in the universe! So you can try New Zealand malt whisky or Brazilian brandy or even a drink with snakes in - yes!And we haven't even mentioned the indoor pool (designed for fun and for hotel guests only so you won't be squeezed out by local club members!), the toy area, the garden swings nor the Gents/Ladies loos which annually receive Loo of the Year awards for their uniqueness.All up, you will not forget a stay at the Evesham Hotel! And importantly it offers exceptional value for money.
