Christmas Lights Switch On Across The Shire

It’s that time of year again – when the streets and shopping centres across Worcestershire are lit up with twinkly Christmas lights. Have some festive fun, enjoy a fantastic array of shops and restaurants across the cities and take part in the Big Switch On.

 

Here are the details for when the colourful lights come to life across the county:

Saturday 20th November:

 

Bromsgrove – The festivities will be kicking off at 1 pm, on Bromsgrove High Street, with food and music at Bromsgrove BirdBox, street theatre entertainment and a special visit from Santa. The lights will be officially switched on at 4.30 pm.

Redditch – Get into the festive spirit with our Christmas Extravaganza Show. Located on Church Green, near the town centre, you and your loved ones can experience the Magic of Christmas in Redditch.

Acts joining us for the festivities include: The Voice UK contestant Sweeney and local favourites Shaun Paul Smith Dance Academy, to name but a few!

Starting at 4pm, the show will last three hours and will include the Christmas lights switch-on as soon as it gets dark.

Kidderminster – Join us this winter for some fun at Light Up Kidderminster! From taking selfies on our illuminated trail, to taking part in winter workshops, to discovering a special UV exhibition & performances during our Town Hall Takeover – there is something for everyone at the Light Up Kidderminster events!

The official switching on of the trail will be as soon as darkness falls.

Saturday 27th November:

 

Worcester – Worcester’s all new Christmas lights for 2021. With live entertainment from 2.00pm in Cathedral Square. Countdown ready for the switch on at 6.00pm with special guests, on stage Entertainment continues until 7pm.

Droitwich – The town’s big festive lights switch-on takes place at 4.30 pm. From 3.15pm, there will be live entertainment, including performances from the Salvation Army Band, the Westacre Middle School Choir and i-Sing Choir. Friar Street will host traditional stalls offering seasonal gifts from 10am to 5pm, a Salvation Army Brass Band performance at 2.15pm and live entertainment from 6pm, organised by The Old Cock Inn.

 

Malvern’s lights are switched on at 6pm

 

Evesham – The fun starts at midday in Market Place with children’s fairground rides, stalls, food, drink and Santa’s grotto for those early present requests. There will also be a Santa and Reindeer parade at 3pm with the lights going on at 5.30pm followed by a fireworks display.

 

Pershore – Head to St Andrews Gardens to meet Santa and his reindeer as well as enjoy carols by Pershore Town Choir and Pershore Operatic and Dramatic Society. There will be a Santa and reindeer parade down the high street at 3pm with the lights going on at 4.45pm.

 

Rubery – Music, singing and street entertainment will keep crowds entertained between 1pm and 5pm. Street Theatre will include a Fairy and Christmas Pudding walkabout, Twistina and Twistifa with their balloons and barrel organ and Steve Kaos showing off his circus skills. The popular Primrose Hospice Tree of Lights switch-on and blessing by Rev Claire Turner and Rev Hamilton will take place at 4pm.

This will be followed by the countdown and main lights switch on at 4.30pm.
