Foodie Friday: Comptons of Hanbury

Foodie Friday this week shines a spotlight on a local fresh food delivery service that delivers delicious Worcestershire produce right to your door. Whilst we are all limiting our travel, we can still find lots of ways to support our local producers without even leaving the house!

Set up earlier this year, Comptons of Hanbury is an alternative and sustainable way to shop for fresh groceries whilst supporting local Worcestershire businesses.

With an online shop of hundreds of products including meat, veg, eggs, bread and much more, every product is sourced from local farmers and producers. As a result, the family-run business has been helping residents within the county get fresh, high-quality produce to their doorstep despite COVID-19 restrictions.

Following the lockdown in March, Comptons of Hanbury saw a hugely increased demand from local residents, some of whom were elderly or vulnerable and unable to leave the house for shopping. As a result, Founder Paul Clossick saw an opportunity to give back to his local community, and set out to ensure everybody had the option to eat well at home. In the first few weeks of lockdown, Paul approached numerous local suppliers to give customers an extensive variety of ingredients to choose from, including free-range eggs, fresh loaves of bread and seasonal vegetables to name a few.

With an aim to encourage a thriving local community, Comptons of Hanbury currently offers weekend deliveries to Worcester, Bromsgrove, Droitwich, Redditch, Rubery and surrounding villages. Customers simply pick their products on the website before choosing a delivery slot, and the food will be with them that weekend. Orders must be made by midday on Thursdays for each weekend’s delivery slots.
