Come and Sing ELIJAH

About this event

Dates, address & more

The Elgar Chorale of Worcester is inviting all singers to come and join Piers Maxim and the Chorale for a day, working on Mendelssohn's Elijah, one of the great oratorios of the choral repertoire, at the Royal Grammar School in Worcester on Saturday 15th October. Together with the brilliant accompanist, Euodia Jordan and bass soloist Alan Fairs, singers will explore the wonderful choruses that Mendelssohn wrote. 'Elijah' owes much to the J.S. Bach and G. Handel's form of oratorio, but with Mendelssohn's distinctive and more romantic style. From the first chorus 'Help, Lord!', to the final 'And then shall your light break forth', Mendelssohn gives the chorus a chance to show their dynamic abilities. This work has everything a choral singer could want! The cost is 25 per singer+ booking fee (Students 15). This includes music hire, a delicious buffet lunch and hot/cold drinks during the breaks. Full Information and booking can be obtained at www.elgarchorale.com or from Judy Jenkins on 01905354533.Registration is from a 9.30am with the music score collection and there will be an informal performance with soloists at 4.00pm 5.00pm to which family & friends are invited.
