Gloriously funny, Gloriously moving, Gloriously inspiring! The true story of Florence Foster Jenkins is all this and more!
Glorious tells how the New York heiress and socialite defied everyone by giving a sell-out concert at the world famous Carnegie Hall, despite having one of the worst singing voices in history!
The play opens in 1940 New York in the apartment Madame Jenkins shares with the English actor St Clair as she auditions her pianist, the unsuspecting Cosme McMoon.
She uses all her money, charm and will power to achieve her dream of being a great opera diva in her relentless drive to share her passion, accompanied by her ditzy companion Dorothy, and a Mexican maid who speaks no English. As the opening night draws near, Florence has interviewed her audience before issuing tickets and hears one dissenting voice, but will Mrs Verrinder-Gedge be able to prevent Florence performing before the curtain goes up?
The delightful story of Florence was recently made into an Oscar nominated film starring Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant, now award-winning theatre company White Cobra Productions bring the story to the stage in Peter Quilter’s critically acclaimed play.
