Journey to Japan – Summer Exhibition

This summer the Museum of Carpet has launched ‘Journey to Japan’. Feast your eyes on the extensive collection of ink paintings that depict the beauty of Japanese scenery, culture and mythical creatures under the warm glow of our bespoke katagami light boxes. During the summer holidays there will be a number of creative children’s activities held in the museum alongside a child-friendly trail of the exhibition hall.

This summer the Museum of Carpet’s latest exhibition invites you to explore the oriental beauty of Japanese textile designs and artwork.
‘Journey to Japan’ is unlike any other exhibition we have held at the museum and carefully illustrates the Kidderminster motto ‘With God’s help, it flourishes by art and industry’ by encouraging audiences to consider how global expansion and distribution of art greatly influenced the local industry.
Feast your eyes on the extensive collection of ink paintings that depict the beauty of Japanese scenery, culture and mythical creatures under the warm glow of our bespoke katagami light boxes. In addition the exhibition the museum is hosting a variety of Japanese inspired events this summer including a Kumihimo braiding workshop, Family theatre production and Ikebana flower arranging demonstration . In addition, throughout the school summer holidays there will be (free) Children’s Japanese arts and craft activities in the gift shop.
