We know that some auctions can be a bit formal… but they can also be downright fun, and that’s what our Pop-in Auctions are all about!
So, “How does a pop-in auction work?”
Our Pop-in Actions will usually be held every couple of months or so, and as a potential buyer you just turn up – there’s no need to register in advance. However, do make sure you allow enough time to have a good look at what’s on offer before the auction starts at 3pm.
Bidding is easy – just put your hand up when the auctioneer offers the lot you are interested in, at an amount you are happy to pay. The auctioneer can only accept one bid at a time, so keep going until either the purchase is yours (the hammer will fall!) or the bids go over your budget. Whilst the process is relatively fast, there is still time for you to ponder… but not for too long, or you might miss out!
If you are a successful bidder, on one or several lots, you simply go to the sales office, pay (by cash, cheque or card), and a member of staff will bring the item or items to you.
The lots offered for sale have either been donated or are being sold for a vendor, who pays a fee of 20% (minimum £5) of the sale price. We also charge a ‘Buyer’s Premium’ of 20% (minimum £5) of the sale price, to help cover the costs of the event.
If you wish to donate or offer items for sale, these can be dropped off at Henry Sandon Hall during office hours. Please note that unfortunately we cannot accept large items of furniture – sorry.
We will ask you to complete a ‘Seller’s Form’, which will include bank account details so that any payment can be made direct by BACS a few days after sale.
And that’s it! All in all, a great fun way of doing a bit of buying and selling!
