Worcestershire Symphony Orchestra is presenting a unique event at Worcester Cathedral on Saturday 10th November to commemorate 100 years since the end of World War 1.
The concert will feature a children’s choir made up of local children from the 7 schools of the Rivers CofE Academy Trust. With Worcestershire Symphony Orchestra they will be performing ‘Remember Them’, a new work by English composer Laura Rossi based on poems written by Manchester primary school children inspired by the First World War.
The concert finale will be a performance by the Orchestra and the Cathedral Choir of ‘Voices of Remembrance’, which includes poetry written to commemorate and remember the soldiers who lived, fought and died in the First World War. Tammy Gooding from BBC H&W will be reading the poetry, which with the accompaniment of the Orchestra and Choir will make a glorious end to the evening in the magnificent Worcester Cathedral.
Laura Rossi will be attending the event and talking about Voices of Remembrance before it is performed. This is a richly evocative work that combines stunningly emotive music with important historical poems.
