Celebrate Mayflower 400 at the Gala Concert - POSTPONED

In the light of government announcements on Monday 16 March regarding public health and the advice to avoid public gatherings, we are very sad to announce the cancellation of the Worcester Mayflower Gala Concert on 25 April 2020.

We must take public health advice with the utmost seriousness and recognise our social responsibilities, especially towards those who are vulnerable. It is therefore essential that we follow the government’s latest Coronavirus (COVID-19) advice on avoiding public gatherings.

We hope to re-schedule the Worcester Mayflower Gala Concert later in the year when there is no risk to public health and safety, and when restrictions on public events are lifted.

Please visit our website for information about refunds on tickets already purchased, and for updates about potential re-scheduling of the event: www.mayflowerconcert.co.uk

The special Gala Concert  is a thrilling programme of English and American choral and orchestral music, including the World Premiere of Mayflower on The Sea Of Time, by composer Philip Sawyers performed by the 200-strong Worcestershire Mayflower Chorus, the English Symphony Orchestra, soprano April Frederick and baritone David Stout, conducted by Neil Ferris, Director BBC Symphony Chorus.

This remarkable concert is the culmination of an inspired educational project with students and teachers from schools, colleges and the university forming the Worcestershire Mayflower Chorus.

Students from Worcester’s Academy Theatre Arts will also perform original dance around the cathedral choreographed by Helen Leek.
