For the first time, the Stihl Timbersports® World Championships were held in Britain, at the Echo Area, Liverpool. An international extreme sports competition series, athletes compete in events featuring three axe disciplines and three sawing disciplines. The Mann family, at Pitlands Farm, Clifton on Teme, had the privilege of hosting teams from Australia, New Zealand and USA, plus film crew, whilst they trained for the big event. Pitlands owner Diane Mann said,

“We are used to multiple bookings, but they are usually for friends and family reunions, this really was a first for us, three sports teams – there were some big boys amongst them, who took a lot of feeding.  They must have enjoyed their stay, as we even got a mention during the commentary at the Arena.

“We spent a very interesting few days, watching the best in the world show off their skills – Australia won gold, USA silver.  Not all time was spent training, they did manage to relax in the hot tubs, have massage treatments by our visiting therapist and visit some local sights during their stay, being very impressed by Witley Court and Church – and only on our doorstep.”
