Poet’s play a plea for the World – Who knew rock music & poetry could co-exist to offer a powerful & important message?

By former Worcestershire Poet Laureate Leena Batchelor

Out of the Darkness’ addresses important issues of climate change and society’s actions, asking us to take stock and asks ‘is it too late to turn back the clock?’ using poetry and performing arts as a means to voice messages and develop self-confidence/esteem …..‘whether it be music, poetry, story-telling, art, performing arts is a powerful tool in all our lives not only for raising awareness of important issues, but also for our own emotional and mental well-being.’ (Leena Batchelor).

Featuring music by American rock supergroup Hollywood Vampires, Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, and Johnny Depp comment: ‘with ‘Out of the Darkness’, Leena has created a hugely important and timely piece of work, in which we are honored to offer our own minor contribution. We salute all those involved, both in front of, and behind the scenes, for their expertise and good conscience in highlighting the concerns we all, as one species, face today. Sincerely, Alice, Joe & Johnny’.

Following its first performance, the play will be offered gratis to any school/community group who wish to perform it, with the freedom to set the stage and choreography as they see fit to develop their own voice and self-esteem, and to further raise awareness of the climate crisis the world is facing (for details of this contact [email protected])
