The Elgar Festival

8 college yard
worcester, uk WR1 2LA United Kingdom

3rd - 5th June 2022

Of all the great British composers, there can be few places that have as strong a musical resonance as Elgar’s Worcestershire. The Elgar Festival, named after the ennobled composer, Sir Edward Elgar (1857–1934), who rose from being a humble Worcester shop-keeper’s son, is a yearly event providing the perfect stimulus to explore the composer’s native landscape and to hear Elgar’s music in situ, often an overwhelming experience for audiences and performers alike.

Celebrating the legacy of both Britain’s great composer and Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, the festival’s resident English Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Artistic Director, Kenneth Woods and joined by the newly formed Elgar Festival Chorus together with guest artists, in live performances taking place across venues in Worcester and Malvern.

With exhibits, talks, workshops, ‘Elgar Tours’, street performance and family concerts, this really is ‘Elgar for Everyone’.
